5 out of 5 stars A Great Deal!   January 22, 2010

Wowwwwww, how could you hate this so much?!

Okay, first of all, its not exactly a very portable laptop, indeed. I simply use it at home and most the time keep it plugged in, it's also a little bulky to be lugging around.
HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!! <---(However) Ever since i put Windows 7 on it (I purchased it in August '09 with Vista), not only has it gotten over twice as fast, but the battery life has nearly doubled. Simply browsing the web, i get about...oh...give or take a few minutes 2 hours. So...If you're going to get this, DON'T GET IT WITH VISTA!!!!! >.< Vista is worthless.

(Keep in mind i review this running Windows 7, i am not reviewing a windows Vista experience....there's no need to bash Vista more than it already has been.)
Pros - -Nice large, bright, crisp screen. It's quite lovely.
-Large nearly-full-sized keyboard is great for typing.
-SD card reader, while standard nowadays, was great for me! No longer must i run the crummy Kodak software to get my photos off my camera!!!
-Graphics are adequate for light gaming. I havn't tried it with many new games, especially not with high graphic ones, but Left 4 Dead 2 ran quite nicely, which certainly says something.
-Quickly and easily picks up internet
-3 GB of RAM makes it run very smoothly...that is, when you don't have Vista on it.
-The processor is adequate for multiple processes running simultaneously.
-250 GB Hard drive....why would anyone need more?

Cons - -As said, battery life is rather short.
-Also as said, its awfully heavy to carry around.
-Speakers are lacking in quality, but is it so big a deal, that you can't go get some portable speakers? Or a headset? I think not!
-And....i think that's it!

Summary -
It's a lovely laptop, but if you're going to buy it, do yourself a favor, and skip out on Windows Vista. $[...] may be a little steep to pay for something like this. It doesn't have many functions above a netbook, but...seriously, if you want a CD drive, you won't find many better deals on a real laptop. Overall, I think it was worth the money, but if there's any doubt in your mind, go ahead and wait for a sale in a store and get it. Hey, you can always return it if you need!

i covered as much as i could think of at the moment, but please, if you have any questions, go ahead and send me a message, as this is the only computer i use, and i'm rather familiar with it.

5 out of 5 stars No brainer notebook   May 27, 2010

I got one for grad school.

PROS

3G RAM, 250G HDD, Athlon II Dual Core, 15" screen, Windows 7 Home Premium 64, under $500. Toshiba quality. 2x faster than same priced Netbook. Docking station optional.

CONS

Keyboard is stiff and off center. Battery runs only 2 hours but no biggie. In a few years, I can upgrade battery/RAM/HDD/CPU for under $100.
